10-year-old boy gets first deer

Jaxon Smith, 10, harvested his first deer in Groesbeck, an eightpoint buck, opening morning of deer season with his Pawpaw (Davy Smith) by his side. Jaxon said he was a little nervous at first, he shot and missed. The buck ran a short distance then stopped giving him a clear shot for a perfect kill. Jax completed his tag to attach to his buck as required in Texas and will be sending his trophy to the taxidermy to be mounted. Jax is the son of Ryan and Stephanie Smith and a student at GISD.
