Groesbeck Structure Engulfed in Flames

A devastating fire broke out on Thursday, Jan. 4  around 3 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Angeline Street in Groesbeck, causing the loss of two residences. The Groesbeck Police Department reported that the 1000 block of West Angeline remained closed to thru traffic as fire crews continued working the scene, around 5 p.m. on Thursday. 

Several responding fire agencies, including Groesbeck, Thornton, Kosse, Mexia, and West Lake, and Lake Mexia, worked tirelessly to control the fire. The fire resulted in the loss of not only the two vacant residences but also caused damage to an additional storage building. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the fire.

The Groesbeck Police Department, Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, Limestone Medical Center EMS, Groesbeck Citizen Patrol, Atmos Energy, and ONCOR all provided additional assistance during the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
