Election Results

November 2, 2021 Election

Election day was Tuesday, Nov. 2 for the 2021 Constitutional Amendments, and as all polling places closed at 7 p.m. the results of early voting numbers started rolling in. Texas voters were deciding whether to approve eight amendments to the state constitution. A total of 440 votes were cast in early voting and numbers from Limestone County Election Administrator 

At about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, unofficial results from Limestone County Elections show the votes of a total of 1,239 votes in the county.

Limestone County voters voted to approve the eight proposed amendments to the state constitution. All eight amendments look to be approved as the results are unofficial.

 

Proposition 1 (HJR 143) Allowing charitable raffles at rodeo events by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association or the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. Unauthorized raffles can be considered illegal gambling under Texas law.

Limestone County- For 1080 (87.80%)  Against 150 (12.20%)

State Results- For 1,242,625 (84%) Against 239,783 (16%)

Proposition 2 (HJR 99) Authorizing counties to issue bonds or notes to raise funds for transportation and infrastructure in underdeveloped areas. Cities and towns already have the authority to fund projects with this financing method.

Limestone County- For 733 (59.35%)  Against 502 (40.65%)

State Results - For 931,453 (63%) Against 544,834 (37%)

Proposition 3 (SJR 27) Banning the state from prohibiting or limiting religious services, including those in churches and other places of worship.

Limestone County - For 976 (78.9%) Against 261 (21.10%)

State Results - For 925,447 (62%) Against 557,093 (38%)

Proposition 4 (SJ 47) - Requiring candidates to have 10 years of experience practicing law in Texas to be eligible for election to the Texas Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals or a Texas court of appeals. Currently, the law requires 10 years of experience but allows for out-of-state experience. Also, candidates running to be a district judge would be required to have eight years of experience practicing law in Texas, up from the current requirement of four years.

Limestone County - For 840 (69.19%) Against 374 (30.81%)

State Results - For 845,030 (59%) Against 592,585 (41%)

Proposition 5 (HJR 164) Allowing the State Commission on Judicial Conduct to have oversight of candidates running for judicial office by accepting complaints or reports, conducting investigations and reprimanding them. The commission already has oversight over current judicial officeholders.

Limestone County - For 823 (67.74%) Against 392 (32.26%)

State Results - For 852,336 (59%) Against 586,686 (41%)

Proposition 6 (SJR 19) Allowing residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities to designate one essential caregiver who cannot be denied in-person visitation rights.

Limestone County - For 1,124 (91.01%) Against 111 (8.99%)

State Results - For 1,293,922 (88%) Against 178,665 (12%)

Proposition 7 (HJR 125) Limiting school district property taxes incurred by the surviving spouse of a person with disabilities who is older than 65 and has died. The surviving spouse must be at least 55 years old at the partner’s time of death and still live in the home.

Limestone County - For 1,112 (89.89%) Against 125 (10.11%)

State Results - For 1,285,384 (87%) Against 190,109 (13%)

Proposition 8 (SJR 35) Expanding eligibility for residential homestead property tax exemptions to include spouses of military members killed or fatally injured in the line of duty. Currently, the exemption is extended to spouses of military members killed in action.

Limestone County - For 1,120 (90.54%) Against 117 (9.46%)

State Results - For 1,291,920 (88%) Against 180,179 (12%)
