Statewide hunger collaborative launches website of Texas food sites for children

Although hundreds of school districts in Texas will be closed for at least a week or longer to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, a coalition of schools, state and federal agencies, advocacy groups and nonprofits has worked hard to make sure children and families do not lose access to nutritious meals while schools are closed.

Emergency declaration means higher punishment for crimes

Those who are convicted of many types of crimes that took place in Texas since Gov. Abbot declared a disaster will be subject to a higher degree of punishment, according to the Texas Penal Code. Sheriff Dennis Wilson, however, says he has not seen an increase, or decrease, in crime since the closure and cancellation of activities because of attempts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Cancellation Tips Amid COVID-19

With the coronavirus strain COVID-19 appearing in multiple cities and countries, travel plans are being postponed, or canceled altogether. Not only travel, but the schedules of largescale events like sports, music festivals and business gatherings are being affected. Many are left wondering what to do about canceled travels and purchased tickets they can no longer use.

Morton crowned County Fair Queen

The Miss Limestone County Fair Queen Pageant recently crowned Kolby Morton as the top contender Saturday, March 14. Groesbeck ISD, members of the Limestone County Fair Association, sponsors and more attended the pageant and ceremony, put together this year by Pageant Coordinator Monica Little, Tiffany Burleson and many volunteers. Anson Massey was master of ceremonies, with Don Waller providing the music.
