Residents of Mexia, Groesbeck, and the surrounding areas can look forward to a festive lineup of holiday activities this week.
Plans are currently being made for a celebration during the week of December 16th to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Limestone County courthouse, which became home to the county government on December 22, 1924. Prior to 1924, there were three other courthouses built in Groesbeck, which became the county seat in 1873, and at least two courthouses in the first county seat of Springfield.
The annual Food For Families Drive returned to Groesbeck on Friday, Nov. 15, with donations pouring in at the Church on the Rock.
The Fall Limestone County Hiring Fair took place Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Groesbeck Convention Center, drawing in a significant number of job seekers eager for new opportunities.
Gov. Greg Abbott issued three executive orders last week targeting the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party, The Dallas Morning News reported
Abbott said the orders were intended to protect Texans of Chinese descent from “harassment and intimidation” by the Chinese Communist Party and government, and to fight threats to state security.
