A king wasn’t crowned during the homecoming festivities but a sash and crown need to be bestowed upon the Groesbeck (5-1, 2-0), offensive line as they paved the way for the Groesbeck running game in their 34-0 district win over Kemp (1-6, 0-3), on Friday, Oct. 7.
Groesbeck quarterback Trent Platt dove into the end zone on a two-point conversion in overtime to lift the Goats to a 37-36 victory over Mexia in the renewal of the Battle of the Navasota rivalry at Blackcat Stadium on Friday night. The score set off a wild celebration on the Groesbeck side of the stadium. The players raced across the field to a far corner of the end zone where the Navasota River sign was standing and triumphantly brought it back to their sideline.
